Another day at the races...

Ok, it just hasn't been Ferrari's year, so let's just move on to more pleasant topics shall we? The first positive note is the F1 Breakfast Bunch actually got breakfast this time around as we had a change of venue to Uncle Louie's. The F1 coordinator (me) got some good natured ribbing about why I just didn't set it up at Uncle Louie's in the first place. The only response I have comes from the Italian dialect: 'Eh!', which can mean a variety of things with the right hand gesture. The next positive thing was an ad-hoc meeting of the Hampton Roads Weekend committee to iron out some details on this year's events. Stay tuned for an upcoming post with the skinny! The third positive thing is the club finally has a member with a last name longer and harder to pronounce than mine! He is Raj Chandrasekaran - or 'Raj' for short. He doesn't have an Alfa yet and he roots for the Honda team, but we'll get him straightened out - welcome Raj! Another good thing (now I sound like Martha Stewart) we found out was our own Presidente Dave Morris was interviewed in the Daily Press concerning his work on the reservoir project for Newport News. Lo and behold, during the interview the topic turned to Dave's love of Alfa Romeos! I just happen to have the link, so read it online here: Daily Press Interview. After the breakfast, what else could happen but that the critical mass of Alfisti spontaneously generated into a tech session. Rich Minor still had a few issues with his new Spider and Skip thought he'd found the culprit, but actually he was looking at his own reflection in the hood (see photo). Speaking of Skip, the Shriner car show last Saturday was a great success - heard tell they even had a few Eye-Talian cars in the Furrin' class! Lastly, some things were said during the race, who said what who really knows? (it was all so confusing!), but the BS flag was thrown and in the interest of general knowledge I provide the following statement: Tom Gonnella was right and V12 engines were no longer allowed under FIA rules as of the 1998 season. At least that's what I could find out from the Internet - a poor source of information for sure! And so dear friends, thus concludes the longest, certainly the most rambling and possibly the most grammatically incorrect Formula 1 Breakfast post ever. Grazie per tu attenzione!
