Early bird tickets go on sale for Concorso Italiano
From Hemmings Motor News
Nothing cures the winter blahs like spicy Mediterranean motor cars.
With the snow piling up against the windowpane here in Vermont, and the heating oil delivery truck once again backing into the driveway, this might be a good time to warm ourselves with thoughts of Italian sports cars basking in the California sun.
Concorso Italiano, the celebration of Italian automobiles and culture, has begun early bird registration for its 2006 show, scheduled for August 18 at the Black Horse Golf Course in Monterey, California. Register this month, and standard spectator tickets are $75 each; wait a bit, and you’ll pay more: $85 in February, $90 in May and $100 in August. (Children age 12 and under are admitted free.)
The cost of registering an Italian automobile, boat or motorcycle is also $75 (it rises to $100 in February, $150 in May and $200 in August), while the fee for including a vehicle in the non-Italian corral is $100 (rising to $150 in February, $200 in May and $250 in August).
The price for advance Gold Class tickets is $150 for adults and $50 for children. Gold Class tickets include lunch, access to the clubhouse, preferred parking and a keepsake lanyard and badge.
This year, Concorso Italiano will be putting special emphasis on the centennial of Lancia, the 35th anniversary of Pantera, all marques that have competed in the Targa Florio in its 100 years, and the automobiles styled or influenced by Zagato. Find out more at
